Angling in General
Excellent angling was enjoyed on all waters during 2009/10 despite the problems with the river levels due to part to the work carried out on the Vale Royal Locks. The river fished slowly at the start of the season but really came on form at the start of the Winter League series with some remarkable catches. The details which are posted on the website are too much to list here. Income from outside matches has reduced again this year, steps have now been taken to encourage bookings for 2010/11. Peg fees have been reduced to £3.00 per peg, match bookings have started to come in, some affiliated clubs have not booked any matches. Book now or you may be disappointed for the dates you require. I believe with the results we have had in matches the River Weaver must now be one of the fairest match venues in the country.

I would like to see more members taking part in these Trophy matches, we turn out between 25 - 30 anglers from the 11 Association member Clubs, I find this a continued disappointment and would like to see a team from every one of our member clubs.
Winter League
The Annual Winter League was again well organised and supported by 9 teams of five anglers. The League is a very popular and a fiercely contested event and has been the best for a number of years, with Hazel Grove taking the honours this year with 209 points, runners up by the narrow margin of 1 point was Trafford with 208 points, a close run thing and in third place was Last Cast with 187 points. A good league when you consider only 1 point separated the two top teams, I offer my congratulations to all the teams for taking part. The individual title went to S Motterhead. Well done, no mean achievement to win the individual prize, over a six match series.
