Note: At the AGM in 2006 it was decided that the Dane is now a members only venue and no day tickets will be sold.

Background
The River Dane's source starts in the Pennines and winds its way down into Cheshire to its confluence with the river Weaver in the middle of the Cheshire plain.
It is renowned for its barbel fishing (allegedly introduced by poachers at the turn of the century) and is also home to some reasonably sized chub. The Association record barbel (10 lbs 12 oz) was recently caught from here.
The water levels can change quite dramatically over a 24 hour period and the river can sometimes be discoloured probably due to its sandy banks, although it never seems to affect the quality of fishing.
The Association has 65 pegs running from below the canal bridge in Middlewich down to Bulls Wood.
During the coarse fishing close season the stretch of river becomes a trout fishery.

Stock
Again just about all coarse fish but big barbel and chub are known to thrive in this river.
