Match Secretary's Report 2011
1. Angling in General
Excellent angling was enjoyed on all waters during 2010 despite the fluctuating
river levels due to the hot and wet summer we experienced.
Income from outside matches has shown a slight increase this year, due in part to the
decrease in peg fees. The winter league turned up some amazing results with over 300lbs
of fish landed in one match.
2. Match Results
George Ledward Trophy - Red Lion
Hallmark Trophy - Red Lion
Jack Swift Trophy - Meadowbank
Jack Swift Individual - R Frazer
John Blackburn Trophy - Red Lion
Lycette Trophy - Not Fished
I would like to see more members taking part in these trophy matches. We
have a turnout of between 25 - 30 anglers from the Association members, I
find this a continued disappointment again this year. I would like to see a team
from every member club.
3. Winter League
The annual Winter League was again well organised and supported by nine teams of five anglers.
The league is a very popular and fiercely contested event and it has been the best for a number of years.
Winners - Last Cast with 225 points.
Runners up - Hazel Grove with 222 points (a close run thing).
Third - Vale Royal Anglers with 213 points.
The individual title went to Steve Mottershead - Hazel Grove.
A good league when you consider only 12 points separated the top three teams.
Congratulations to all taking part.
4. Matches 2011/2012
The match diary for 2011/2012 - I would advise member clubs to book the
matches for 2011/2012 as soon as possible. I am now taking outside match
bookings if you require certain dates. I work on a first come first served basis!
Finally, I would like to thank all officials for their continued support and in particular members of the Match Committee, for their valuable help in organising and arranging matches during 2010. Dougie Maddock
