Update 28th August
It is with deep regret that we have to announce the sad loss of one of the
most loyal, reliable and trusted members of our committee.
Today the Winsford & District Anglers Association has lost its Match Secretary,
Dougie Maddock

Update 12th July
An open day will be held at Wyvern House Pool on July 24th, in conjunction with
The Environment Agency, Cheshire West & Chester Council, Cheshire &
Warrington Council and Northwich Anglers.
Are you are between 12 and 16 and would like to take part in the Winsford
Sumer Fishing Festival?
The events will be held at the National Pool each Wednesday, starting at 9.30am.
Fishing commences at 10.00am and the weigh in is at 3.00pm.
Dates: 27th July, 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th August.

Report from the Fisheries Manager from the last Committee Meeting held at
Wharton Conservative Club on Tuesday 3rd May.
Progress report on Whyvern house junior fishing:
The pool has now been given a very thorough cleaning with some 80 bin liners
of material removed from the water, this included weed and a various
assortment of bikes, road signs and other assorted scrap.
The members taking part worked for 4 hours and are to be congratulated for
their efforts in the cleaning the pool, it would be unfair to name any one person.
The group of 8 members taking part all worked very hard.
The open day is on the 15th May in conjunction with Northwich, the EA have
arranged for a "grade 2"coach to allow newcomers to have a "taster session"
on the new landing stages.
The rules governing the new pegs will be drawn up with the Council, WDAA
officials and the EA.
The EA provided the finance to build the platforms the cost was £9.500 pounds.
The scheme has been awarded a platinum award. One of only three in the country.
The award is given by the British Disabled Angling Association for accessibility
and facilities available to disabled anglers.
The Council have also agreed to give free swimming lessons to junior members
and the use of toilet facilities at the Lifestyle Centre.
We are looking for junior members to take part in fishing matches against
Northwich in the summer with junior events taking place during holiday periods
the main idea is to promote angling and junior angling in particular.
We have been given £500 pounds from one of the schemes Jo Comere.
The regeneration officer has arranged the funding, it is to be spent to promote
junior angling and local business.
We have ordered some goody bagsto be given to juniors on the open day.
When we have more information, it will be published on this website.

Warrington Council and Northwich Anglers.

Update 5th March
At the Annual General Meeting for WDAA held at Wharton Conservative Club,
on Thursday 3rd March:
The Secretary, Fishery Manager and Match Secretary each gave their end of year
reports.
The following motions were all passed unanimously.
1. "All outside matches bookings will be charged at £2.00 per peg, with a minimum
of 15 pegs to be booked".

2. "Day ticket prices shall remain at £5.00".
3. "The Top Flash fishery shall be open for matches at weekends.
(Maximum of 20 pegs, one match per day with following match using the alternate
side of the lake)".

Elections were held for new Officers of the Association and can be found here.
Tommy Ratcliffe and Stewart Bailey both retired from their active duties on the
committee after over 40 years service each. Both were presented with retirement
gifts and received a standing ovation from all attending members for their
contribution to WDAA.

Update 25th February
The Annual General Meeting for WDAA will be held at Wharton Conservative Club,
on Thursday 3rd March, commencing at 7.30pm.

Update 14th February
Stapley Water Gardens are hosting an evening for Lymm Angling Club and a few other
clubs on 23rd February.
We would like to extend the invitation to your members.
Offering additional discounts and refreshments. Neil Smith from Fox International will
be doing some rig tying and basically be there to answer any questions. 
It would be a good social evening for club members and people interested in joining
a club. The store will open late allowing you to shop late and additional discounts will
be offered. The guest speaker will be talking about various methods of fishing and will
host a "question and answer" session at the end.
Starting at 6pm and running to 8pm or possible later if warranted.

Update 10th February
In the Wednesday Match fished on the Marina and Red Lion stretches of the
river, 13 anglers caught a total of 175lb of fish, with 10 anglers all landing over
10lbs each.

Update 7th February
The river continues to produce quality pike with the report of another 19lb specimen
caught on a spinner.
In the recent match fished on the Marina and Red Lion stretches of the river,
30 anglers landed 221lbs of fish (7lb 6oz per man).

Update 27th November
The Match Secretary would like to express his disappointment at the low turnout
for the recent match fished on Bottom Flash.

Update 23rd November
The river Weaver continues to fish in excellent form, on Sunday's Winter League Match
54 anglers caught a total of 361lb 10oz, giving an average weight per rod of 6lb 11oz.
The river has also produced another specimen pike of 25lbs from the Red Lion section.

Update 21st November
On Friday 12th November, a member landed a magnificent 19lb pike from Newbridge
Pool. The fish was caught spinning with a rapala floating lure.
