TOP FLASH
wellies or waders required

JUNE 16th to MARCH 14th
marked pegs
postcode cw7 4eb

This area of open water was created by salt being washed out of underlying rock
and the subsequent collapse of the overlying rock. This was due to intensive salt
mining and brine extraction that started around the mid 18th century. The
subsequent "hole in the ground" above water was filled by the river Weaver
overflowing its banks and there it is - an instant lake of approximately 12 acres!
A large wall of tyres was built some years ago, which has now silted up and
works as a barrier to prevent the fish escaping. The river which flows alongside
the Flash contains quality chub, roach, dace and perch and is always a handy spot
to "drop on" if the Flash is out of sorts.

Top Flash is an iconic water and has a colourful history in the 90's carp fishing
scene and some of you may know it by another name (Treetops).
However fate has taken its toll and some of the larger residents are no longer there.
But some still remain, and recently the carp fishing has begun to improve,
the largest fish currently around 31lb with plenty of smaller fish.
Top Flash is a mixed fishery, holding large pike, some tench, chub, eels,
roach, bream and hybrids. The bream shoals are large and regular match bags can be
over 80lb, making it an excellent club match venue.

All anglers must wear either wellies or waders when fishing this water
failure to do so may result in being asked to leave .
