The River Weaver is probably the centrepiece of the Association waters. It is the river that flows through the centre of our town from its source near Nantwich, and on for approximately 20 miles through Northwich and finally into the Manchester Ship Canal at Weston Point Docks near Runcorn

The River Weaver has a 2000 year history for transporting salt from Winsford. It was canalised in 1798 from Winsford to Frodsham to allow salt to be transported more easily to the huge docks at Liverpool for export around the world.

The Association has the rights to fish approximately 4 miles of the river from just below Church Minshull to Newbridge.

The Upper Weaver (the River from Bottom Flash to Church Minshull) contains just about all of the coarse fish but is particularly known for its dace, roach and now barbel. A few hundred barbel were stocked in this stretch of the river in 1999 and as far as we are aware only 1 has been caught to date. Therefore we are asking anyone who catches a barbel to notify us of its weight, point and date of capture. This way we can asses whether the stocking was a successful venture. please e-mail any catches to us here

The Lower Weaver (from Bottom Flash to Newbridge) again contains most known coarse fish but of particular note are roach 2lbs+, bream 7lbs+, perch 4lbs+, tench, mirror and common carp, gudgeon, eels and pike.

Note: For those wishing to drive to the car park adjacent to the National stretch and National Pool the access gate is now locked. details on how to obtain a key are here.
